Halal food is served here. In fact, the Japanese owner is good friends with the local imam from Beppu Masjid. As such, the owner knows exactly the rules of halal and how to keep it halal, and not to mix it with haram. The owner is a very jolly fellow and very kind, and so is his staff. Very much recommend it!!
